Camara Social Enterprise Model

Camara receives the computer from an organisation or individual in Ireland. It charges a fee for this service of approximately €10 per computer. After refurbishment this computer is shipped to Africa where it is sold to a Technology Hub for €10 per computer. As the total cost to Camara to do all this is approximately €40 it must fund raise the balance, some €20 per computer.

The Technology Hub receives the computer at the port, pays customs charges and other taxes and transports computer to its own workshop. Once there it undergoes further testing, cleaning and refurbishment. It then sells the computer to ‘approved’ schools for €50. For this fee the school gets:
1. A computer
2. A maintenance contract
3. Training program for a number of teachers
4. Recycling and replacement service at the end of the computers life
