Cormac Lynch is the Founder and Chief Executive of Camara Education. He has an engineering and finance background having spent 5 years as a petroleum engineer in the North Sea and 12 years as an investment banker in London, New York and Moscow. Prior to starting Camara, he was Chief Executive of NIKoil, a medium-sized Russian Investment Bank. In addition to his undergraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin (1st Class Engineering Science), he has an MSc from Imperial College London, an MBA from Stanford University and a MSc in Development Studies from University College Dublin.
Eoghan Crosby
Eoghan is responsible for the planning and execution of a broad range of technical programs both in Ireland and Africa, assisting on the establishment of “Social Enterprise Centres” in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Lesotho. Closer to home, Eoghan works with the technology deployment teams in Camara’s European refubishment centres and loves the occasional cup ot tea.
Kirsty Palfreyman
Kirsty Palfreyman joined Camara in 2007 as Volunteer Coordinator. After setting up the ‘07 and ‘08 Africa volunteer project, she was appointed Overseas Programme Manager. As Camara develops, ICT training in our partner Hubs and Schools is evermore important. Kirsty’s tasks include the introduction of an internationally certified training programme for teachers and volunteers as well as the development of the Camara Learning Technology project.
Hester Jackman
Hester Jackman started at Camara as Volunteer Co-ordinator in Nov 2008. As Camara is primarily staffed by volunteers, Hester’s job is to ensure that their volunteer experience in the Dublin workshop is successful and positive. She is also responsible for organising the annual volunteer Africa trips, which arrange for volunteers to travel to Camara’s African hubs and schools.
Ciarán Casey
Ciarán Casey joined Camara in 2008 as Principal Development Officer. He focuses on Monitoring and Evaluation, as well as our relationships with institutional donors. Ciarán’s description on this page was cynically abbreviated by malevolent forces during the website revamp, though he feels that he has grown enough as a person to rise above it.
Bernie Adamson
Bernie Adamson joined Camara in 2008 as an Head of Administration. She previously worked for Lotus/IBM for 16 years and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Applications from DCU and is currently studying for an MA in Voluntary and Community Management.
Jim Murray
Jim Murray is the Workshop Manager and is responsible for the day to day running of Camara’s computer workshop since he joined Camara in 2007. Jim has a keen interest in the GAA, Mayo in particular and also travelling.
Mark Fox
Mark Fox joined Camara in January 2009 as Social Hardware Manager which means he is responsible for procurement of computer equipment from any organisation that has a disposal requirement. Mark’s mantra to clients is that “doing the right thing is doing good business”.
Mariea Mulally
Mariea Mullally joined Camara in January 2010. Her background is in Financial Services, with 17 years experience in IT and Retail Operations. She has also experience in the not-for-profit sector in an organisational and fund-raising capacity. She is currently completing the UCD, Evening BA programme. As Head of Development, at Camara, her focus is to plan and implement an effective and sustainable development strategy, which will facilitate, Camara’s vision for growth, in educational delivery, both in Ireland and abroad.
Steven Daly
Steven joined Camara in 2010 and is responsible for expanding Camara’s operations into Irish schools. Steven is working on the design and implementation of an affordable package of laptops and training to be delivered to disadvantaged primary and secondary schools in Ireland. Steven’s background is in International Relations and he also works as a tutor in UCD’s Politics Department.
Trisha Olsson
Trisha joined Camara in early 2008 as the CEO responsible for the hub in Fort Portal, Uganda. She now oversees the operations of all hub countries as Director of African headquarters, based out of Kampala. Trisha’s background is in International Development and has been working on and off in East Africa for the past 5 years.
