Camara Rwanda was established in early 2009. Our main challenge in setting up was identifying a suitable local organisation to partner with, and we got off to several false starts. While Rwanda has the lowest number of computers per capita of any country we have worked in (about twenty for every thousand people), they are putting huge resources into ICT. The main drive behind establishing the Hub came from Frank Lehmann, arguably our most overqualified volunteer (though there’s a myriad of candidates for that role). Our CEO in Rwanda, Eddie Rwagasore, has already proven himself to being very capable and we are confident that he will drive Camara Rwanda to unprecedented success. The country has received 650 computers to date, and we expect it to become one of our strongest bases in Africa.
