Technology enhanced learning in Zambia

Technology is vital, however empowering teachers with lifelong skills and enhancing their teaching ability is much more powerful.
While the role of the local Camara Hub continues to focus on distrabuting PC labs and training teachers in basic ICT skills, Camara Learning was created to focus on training teachers in advanced ICT and pedagogical skills. For technology to be used within an education environment a supplementary set of skills on teaching with ICT and an understanding of technology enhanced learning muct be explored. Camara Learning aims to support and encourage those working in education who have an interest in enhancing the quality of learning and teaching through the use of technology as a tool.

Camara don’t believe computers or technology can replace books and chalkboards, rather that technology can complement the learners experience. Likewise technology will not replace the teacher, rather increase learning opportunities. Technology in the classroom will however require additional pedagogical training for teachers.

Our Aim

Camara have designed training for teachers and school support staff (Principal) to provide them with the skills and knowledge to:

  • support and manage a functional school ICT lab
  • support and encourage colleagues to create effective learning environments
  • support and manage the school strategy and its teachnology enhanced learning environment.
