The Camara strategy is to promote Development in Africa by enhancing its formal educational institutions through technology. Interestingly the fact that computers benefit education is such a truism that it’s quite regularly questioned (in many cases on the internet or by e-mail by people seemingly bereft of a sense of irony). While we will probably do a longitudinal study at some point, for the time being Camara is happy using third-party studies, and teacher and student feedback, to demonstrate the benefits of ICT in improving educational outcomes.
The online readings linked below should be more than enough to prove to even the most critical analysts that the effective use of technology is vital for achieving an optimal learning environment, and that it offers untold opportunity for Africa to leapfrog to the core of a smart, equitable global community.
The M&E section should show that Camara is making every effort to be effective in delivering meaningful technology supports to schools, and to demonstrate it empirically to boot.
