In July 2007 Camara took 56 volunteers from Ireland to Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Uganda and Zambia to teach basic computer literacy in the computer labs Camara had set up there over the previous year.
Volunteers found there experience challenging, rewarding, hardwork and a lot of fun.

Interested in volunteering? Wise words from the Africa 2007 team… “Aside the main teaching, every member of our group gave another skill. Hardware training, Software programming, some of us helped with web design, some of us gave extra classes in print and layout design, some of us filmed, some of us played music. We all swapped cultures on a day to day basis. I’m sure that we made a difference, if only small.”
“Volunteering with Camara is a significant commitment of time, mind and heart; together you can help to bring great assistance to people in less fortunate circumstances. The trip is demanding but immensely rewarding and you won’t come back the same person.”
“It is an amazing life changing experience which you will get to see parts of the world and meet people that most people only ever hear about.”
“Do it, challenge yourself and enjoy it.”
Lesotho 07 volunteers and graduates.
“You will have a great time doing something worthwhile.”
“Its not easy but put as much into as you want to get out of it and it will affect you very deeply.”
“If volunteering is something you’ve wanted to do go for it, it’s an amazing experience. You will get so much from it, but don’t expect a holiday, its exhausting.”
“This is an experience that will change your life so go for it with an open mind and a positive attitude.”
“Don’t hesitate it is the best and most rewarding thing that you will ever do.”
“Be prepared to put in some hard work and be challenged, and you can make a difference to the lives of people and also (on a small scale) hopefully the development of African education and economy.”
“Like nothing you’ve ever experienced. Not just for the countries visited, but for everything that Camara does.”
