Back to work
I’m just back from three brilliant weeks in Australia. Still, it’s really nice to be working somewhere you look forward to going back to. While the Hub isn’t exactly luxurious, it’s a great vibe and a fun place to work.
On a related note I cleaned my desk for the first time since I [...]
Aid Watchers
The headline of this blog post grabbed my attention for obvious reasons!

Still following the blog quite closely and really enjoying it.

Charities under funding pressure
This is from an article in today’s Irish Times
‘Almost a fifth of charities in Ireland fear they will be forced to close their doors within the next year after cuts in funding, it emerged today.
Concerns were also raised that thousands of jobs would be lost and frontline services across health, education and social services decimated [...]

A swipe at the Development heads!
This was quite interesting, if not very funny. I actually like Easterly though I’ve only read his blog. That bit about Moyo’s book going for the sensationalist headline but not actually talking about NGOs or emergency relief is spot on.

Fair play to Karolanne and Danny. It’s great to get some more footage from the schools

Camara in the Irish Times
I loved this article. Partially because it really got to the core of what we’re trying to do, partially because of its irreverence, but in large part because the MSC stories got quoted in the national press!

Geldof vs. the Beep
Loving this

Like a lot of people I got interested in Development through Geldof, I think he’s very impressive here
A bluffer’s guide to Basotho Sesotho for a non-Mosotho working in Lesotho
I’m doing a concept note for Lesotho at the moment. Learning how to describe anything has been a little confusing. If you’re ever writing about the place or just looking to impress please consult the following (though as always I could be wildly wrong)
1. A single person from Lesotho is Mosotho. [...]
